Tastes like home

I do like a bit of comfort food. I can't buy scones here, so decided to make some. It is also not possible to buy self raising flour here. So, I had to concoct my own with baking powder.

I love a messy floury table when baking. I used a recipe by Mary Berry that I found online.

The sun is shining and I like to sit at the table close to the window, so that the sunlight filters in.

Then a bit of magazine reading.

Since uploading more pics, it has started to rain and thunder rolls in the distance. I love the sound of the rain on the windows. It seems a bit more fitting to be eating them and sipping tea when the weather is poor. xxx

  3. Those scones look amazing all the better for having to adjust and create no doubt.

I have to admit I have apart from birthdays stopped baking for a while, life was getting to caketastic around here. While that in itself is not too bad the waistline was telling a different story! lol.

Hope you enjoyed your hard work they look scrummy.

  6. Hey Tracy,

Thanks for the lovely comment on my blog. I do love The Black Kids I listen to radio 1 a lot (Nope havent grown up yet! lol) and they played them a lot on there.

Well I love sending links to people who I know love music so wondered weather you had heard of these guys. Dont know what you think of music with a country rock edge. But they are really awesome I have their album and have not stopped playing it. The guy is cute too, looks a lot like Jonny Depp, dont know if they will sway you or not! lol.

  10. Poor weather and scones really is just like home ha ha. After five days of glorious sunshine we have woken up to some drizzly weather here today, in a way it is sort of a relief, just so long as we get some more sunshine again afterwards I'm sure we will all be happy again :) x x x x

  11. Just catching up here :D

Nothing beats a good scone! And I often think the ones made with plain flour and baking powder are the best. I like mine with blackcurrant jam, which is probably some kind of sacrilege. Yours look delicious :D

To me scones are for eating outside on hot sunny days (while pestered by wasps) ... fond memories of childhood Devonshire cream teas creeping in there!
